BB meets Helen Dunmore & Rebecca Cobb

I had a lovely time at the museum this lunchtime (I seem to be living there at the moment).

Top author Helen Dunmore and rising young illustrator Rebecca Cobb gave a fascinating insight into the art and craft of collaboration in picture books.

The results, “The Ferry Birds” and the just published ” The Islanders” are just gorgeous! “The Ferry Birds” is based on the true story of two travelling Turnstones in Falmouth whilst “The Islanders” is based in wartime St. Ives. Both towns are very recognisable as Helen and Rebecca use many real buildings, houses and locations for inspiration. You can see some of Rebecca’s beautiful original artwork for “The Islanders”  in the “Draw Me a Story” exhibition.

If you like your picture books with a Cornish flavour grownups might also enjoy the forthcoming lunchtime talk by the legendary Michael Foreman & Phil Moran on Thursday 30 June.

Book your ticket with the museum in good time!
