Book review – Tell me something happy before I go to sleep by Joyce Dunbar and Debi Gliori

A beautifully written and illustrated story which will become a favourite at bedtime. Willa is very tired and goes to bed, but she can’t sleep and asks her brother, Willoughby, to tell her something happy before she goes to sleep.

Willoughby finds all sorts of things to tell her about which will make her happy; her slippers waiting for the morning when she puts them on; her toys waiting to be played with; all the good things in the larder ready to eat for breakfast, etc. There is only one sad thing and that is the morning, which is waiting to wake Willa up! Willa goes to bed and off to sleep full of happy things to think about.

The illustrations are delightful and provide much for children to look at and discuss. The CD version is lovely for older children to listen to and follow the words.
