Book review – The perfect bear by Gillian Shields and Gary Blythe

Happy New Year!

Have been hibernating a bit during this cold snap, but got some reading done under the duvet.

My new favourite is The perfect bear by Gillian Shield and lovely pictures by Gary Blythe who’s gorgeous illustrations you may recall from When the Whales Came.

TPB is the cautionary tale of a very handsome, conceited bear who learns that appearances are never as valuable as a true and loving heart.

The bear’s look of utter dejection as he is hung on a washing line after ruining his pristine fur is utterly priceless.
