A new book with illustrations from Russell Ayto (The Witch’s Children, Russell the Sheep) is always worth investigating and The Cow That Laid An Egg is another cracker despite the title being a total plotline spoiler.

When milker Marjorie’s feeling down the chickens’ hatch a cunning plan. Marjorie’s egg makes headline news but what will emerge from the Friesian spotted shell when it starts to crack?
