Book review – Penguin by Polly Dunbar

This week’s review is from Plymouth City Council’s Library Support Manager, Tony Phillips.

“I read this book to my two-year old grandson recently. He will soon let me know if he doesn’t like a book by wriggling or just walking away and getting on with play.

In this instance he was transfixed by the story and by the second reading was joining in with the dialogue. He seemed fascinated with the penguin who says nothing until a momentous event spurs him into action.

The illustrations are simple and beautifully drawn and both Freddie and I loved the depiction of Penguin’s final speech. I’m not surprised that this book is up for awards.”
