Simon kindly took the time to answer some questions from a certain nosy bear.

What inspired you to write George Flies South?

I was in France, I was sitting outside a café in an avenue of trees and I saw a nest in one of the trees across the road. I thought wouldn’t it be funny if a bird fell out of a nest and on top of a car and the car drove away. I drew a little series of drawings about that happening. And then years later I came across that sketchbook and thought, I still like that idea.

Would you ever write a book about bears?

No. I will never write a book about bears because there are simply just too many – there are not many blue bears though, I might have to reconsider that!

Are you working on any new books?

Yes, I’m working on a book called Nurse Clementine, which is about a girl who has always wanted to be a Nurse and likes to bandage everything. She has a little brother who really doesn’t want to be bandaged!
